NDO – Vietnam’s political system, which holds the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) as the only political party in power, is a special model of success, head of the Egyptian Socialist Party’s foreign policy department Mamdouh Habashi said on the occasion of the ongoing 12th National Congress of the CPV in Hanoi.

The CPV has affirmed its important leadership role, seen through significant achievements gained in the nation’s revolutionary cause. Under the leadership of the CPV, Vietnamese people are enjoying a life of prosperity and happiness, in a country of peace and stability, with a growing, flourishing economy, he said, adding that developing countries could learn from the model.

* Many Japanese newspapers covered the 12th National Congress of the CPV. NHK World website, Sankei newspaper and Japan News 22 quoted a political report presented by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the Congress, which called for further economic reform and acceleration of national modernisation and industrialisation, and stressed the importance of boosting anti-corruption efforts.

The political report was also cited by Yomiuri newspaper as saying that the 30-year reform has brought about noted achievements for the country but that limitations still remain. The report highlighted the guidelines to soon develop Vietnam into an industrialised nation on the basis of economic structure transformation, reform policy and socialist-oriented market economic development. The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) will facilitate Vietnam’s access to foreign loans and expand its export activities, thereby  helping the country to reach its economic growth target of 6.5-7 % annually.

* Meanwhile, Prof. Vladimir Kolotov, director of the Ho Chi Minh Institute under Russia’s St. Petersburg University, stated that since its debut in 1930, the CPV has consistently pursued the policy of protecting national interests, which he said has proven itself to be the most accurate path for the nation.

According to Kolotov, during the 30 years of implementing the Doi Moi (Renovation), Vietnam has gained many outstanding economic achievements and maintained a balanced policy aiming to protect national interests. The Russian scholar wished the CPV’s 12th National Congress to be a success, with decisions and policies made to enhance Vietnam’s economic strength and its position on the international arena.
