NDO – National Assembly (NA) Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong toured the northern province of Son La to meet with voters in Xuan Nha Commune, Van Ho District, on May 10.

Phong, who is also a Politburo member, was joined by the Son La Provincial NA Deputies’ Delegation.

The visit aimed to inspect the implementation of social welfare policies in the locale to support people in recovering socio-economic activities now that the COVID-19 epidemic is under control.

At the meeting, Van Ho District authorities briefed the NA leader on the local socio-economic developments, especially regarding COVID-19 and African swine fever control measures, as well as plans to promote the new rural area development in Van Ho and the organisation of Party congresses at all levels.

Local voters voiced their suggestion for the central Government and Son La authorities to pour more investment into local infrastructure development, production land expansion and ethnic support policies.

Phong highly praised socio-economic development results achieved by Van Ho District in general and Xuan Nha Commune in particular in recent years, especially the effective implementation of COVID-19 prevention and control measures.

She suggested the localities to focus on promoting production and business activities in a “new normal” state and a higher level, with vigilance to the epidemic and continued disease preventive measures.

The NA vice chairwoman also urged local authorities to well implement the Government's Resolution No. 42/NQ-CP dated April 9, 2020, on measures to support people facing difficulties due to COVID-19 while focusing on overcoming the consequences of natural disasters combined with supporting the affected people to stabilise their lives.

On the occasion, Phong informed local voters on the content and agenda of the upcoming 14th NA’s 9th sitting, which is scheduled to commence on May 20.

The Politburo member also joined Son La Provincial NA Deputies’ Delegation on a field trip to inspect a water supply project for Thin Village and the construction of Xuan Nha Commune Health Station.
