NDO – Authorised by Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh presented decisions granting the rank of Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to 14 diplomats in Hanoi on February 19.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice President Thinh emphasised that the rank of Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam is the noblest diplomatic rank of the Vietnamese Party and State, recognising diplomats’ contributions to national development and protection in general and external affairs in particular.

Foreign affairs have significantly contributed to Vietnam’s past struggle for national independence and reunification, as well as to the current cause of constructing and defending the socialist country, she said.

The Vice President stated that in addition to advantages, Vietnam is facing remarkable challenges and difficulties, while the world and regional situation is transforming in a complicated and unpredictable fashion.

She asked the foreign affairs sector and the newly promoted ambassadors to seize opportunities and utilise the trends to flexibly overcome any difficulties, aiming to protect and promote national interests in every situation and transformation of the era.

Vice President Thinh expressed her belief that the diplomats will continue upholding the leading role of the external affairs sector in contributing to preserving a peaceful and stable environment and optimally capitalise on the external resources to develop the country, as well as to enhance Vietnam’s position and prestige in the international arena.
