NDO - A ceremony was held on June 30 in Quang Tri province to mark the 30th anniversary of its re-establishment and receive the Independence Order, first class, awarded to the central province.

In his speech, Quang Tri Party Secretary Nguyen Van Hung recounted the efforts made towards overcoming the difficulties facing the province in its early years of re-establishment.

In July 1989, the former province of Binh Tri Thien was split into three original provinces of Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Thua Thien-Hue following a National Assembly resolution.

Hung stated that after 30 years, the province has seen significant progresses, with its average economic growth rate reaching 7.8% per year. In 2018, Quang Tri ranked second in the north central region in terms of income per capita and first in terms of economic growth.

In her speech, National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong praised the achievements of the province over the past three decades and urged Quang Tri to tap into its strengths to boost its socio-economic development.

For its accomplishments over the past 30 years, the province has been awarded the Independence Order, first class.

On the occasion, National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong paid her respects to fallen soldiers at several cemeteries in Quang Tri province, visited the ancient citadel of Quang Tri, and attended an inaugural ceremony for a solar farm.
