NDO - The National Assembly’s question and answer session in the past two days were pertinent to the pressing socio-economic issues Vietnam faces, said Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan on June 6.

She added that the session took place in a democratic, open and constructive manner where members of government provided straight answers without evading questions or complex issues.

During two and a half days, Ministers of Public Security; Construction; Transport and Culture, Sports and Tourism were grilled over pressing issues in their jurisdiction.

On behalf of the government, Deputy PM Pham Binh Minh further clarified several issues and answered a number of questions raised by National Assembly deputies.

He was also backed up by Deputy PMs Truong Hoa Binh and Trinh Dinh Dung, the Prosecutor General of the Supreme People’s Procuracy and several other ministers.

National Assembly Chairwoman Ngan stated that although the question and answer period was shorter than at previous parliamentary meetings, the quality of the session was much higher.

She said she welcomed the ministers’ responsibility while asking them to take note of the deputies’ opinions fully and seriously and carry out measures to bring about improvements to areas under their authority.
