NDO - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended a working session with the leaders of the Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang on April 6.

At the meeting, Soc Trang Chairman Tran Van Chuyen briefed the government leader on the province’s socio-economic development in the first quarter of 2019.

He stated that, in addition to the positive results, Soc Trang is facing a number of problems such as unfavourable weather, falling prices of agricultural products, limited connection in agricultural production and impediments to investment.

The Soc Trang leader suggested that the central government should soon approve the Tran De deep-water port and support investment in energy and infrastructure projects in the province.

Speaking at the session, PM Phuc praised Soc Trang’s efforts in its socio-economic development, urging the province to tap into its potential and further enhance its competitiveness.

On the same day, the Prime Minister visited and extended his greetings to Khmer Buddhist dignitaries and a Pali middle school in Soc Trang province on the occasion of the Chol Chnam Thmay Festival.

PM Phuc praised the Khmer Buddhist dignitaries for encouraging local Buddhist adherents to follow the Party and State’s policies and take part in poverty reduction, environmental protection, education and charity programmes.

On the occasion, he wished Buddhists and the Khmer people of Soc Trang province a new year of joy, health and happiness.
