NDO - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc chaired the second meeting of the Socio-economic Subcommittee, on January 19, on preparing for the 13th Party Congress scheduled for 2021.

The main task of the Socio-economic Subcommittee is to compile two documents: the socio-economic development strategy for the 2021-2030 period and the socio-economic development plan for the 2021-2025 period.

Speaking at the meeting, PM Phuc asked the editing group to soon complete the general outlines of the documents and send them to the Subcommittee members for feedback.

Concerning the 2021-2030 strategy, the government leader emphasised the spirit of how to bring about new development breakthroughs, underlining the role of science and technology in realising that goal.

The Prime Minister agreed to the editing group’s proposal to delegate the task of research to 10 National Assembly agencies, 28 ministries and agencies, 10 research centres at higher education institutions, and 5 cities and provinces.

He also assigned the General Statistics Office to build a common set of accurate and consistent socio-economic data for the 2010-2020 period in order to serve the Subcommittee.
