HCM City, Ninh Binh pay respect to late President Tran Dai Quang

NDO – Leaders and locals in Ho Chi Minh City and the northern province of Ninh Binh – the home town of President Tran Dai Quang – paid tribute to the late President during separate funeral ceremonies held in the two locales on September 26.

At HCM City’s Independence Palace, Politburo member and Secretary of the municipal Party Committee, Nguyen Thien Nhan, joined the city’s authorities, armed forces, delegations from the southern localities and local people, as well as representatives from socio-political organisations and foreign diplomatic missions, to pay homage to late President Tran Dai Quang with deep condolences.

Since early this morning, many people were waited in front of the Independence Palace, queuing for their turn to pay tribute to President Tran Dai Quang.

The ceremony began at 7am, starting with a delegation of the city’s authorities, led by Politburo member Nhan, and former senior Party and State leaders and the city’s retired leaders, burning incense on the altar dedicated to President Tran Dai Quang and paying homage to the late President.

Following them were delegations from the 7th Military Region Command, the Ministry of Public Security in the South, the city’s concerned units, and other provinces and cities in the South, as well as a delegation from foreign diplomatic missions in HCM City.

By noon, 170 delegations had visited the Independence Palace to pay their respects to President Tran Dai Quang. The funeral ceremony will remain open until 9pm.

The same day, a similar ceremony was also held in the late President’s hometown in Ninh Binh province.

Local leaders and residents flocked to the Neighborhood No. 13 in Quang Thien commune, Kim Son district – the hometown of President Tran Dai Quang and what will be his final resting place – to pay homage to the President.
