NDO— Vo Van Thuong, Politburo member and head of the Central Party Committee's Commission for Communications and Education, worked with the Party Committee of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations (VULAA) in Hanoi on September 21.

Politburo member Thuong presented the decision of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat on the establishment of the Party Committee of the VULAA for 2016-2021. The Party Committee of the VULAA consists of fourteen members, with poet Huu Thinh as Secretary.

Addressing the event, the Politburo member expressed his appreciation for the efforts and contributions made by writers and artists in the past. He said that they had always stood together behind the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, for national independence and socialism and for the happiness of the people, and had become an important force on the ideological and cultural fronts, adding that during the period of reform over the past 30 years, the culture and arts of the country had continued to grow strongly and made numerous significant achievements.

The Politburo member also expressed his belief that Vietnamese writers and artists throughout the country, especially members of the VULAA, would continue to work harder and contribute more to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.

The VULAA should also be more proactive in implementing the resolutions of the Party Central Committee on the construction and development of Vietnam’s culture and people to meet the requirements of sustainable development for the country, as well as the construction and development of literature and the arts, Politburo member Thuong noted.
