NDO - Hundreds of people flocked to the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion and several blood donation sites in Hanoi to voluntarily donate blood on the “All-people blood donation day” (April 7).

The complicated situation of the Covid-19 epidemic has significantly decreased the amount of blood at the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion over the past two months.

The Institute's blood reserve was only 8,000 units as of the morning of April 6, including 1,000 of blood type A and nearly 700 of blood type AB.

Meanwhile, the Institute needs around 700 blood units each day to provide to the hospitals in 25 provinces and cities.

Each blood donor’s body temperature is checked and they are also asked to wash their hands.

The donors’ blood pressure and samples are also checked to ensure the eligibility for blood donation.

The space for welcoming donors was set up outdoors to ensure safety for them.

The blood donors maintained a minimum distance of 2m from each other.
