NDO – The fourth Vietnam Book Day – 2017, entitled, ‘Book and Development of community knowledge’, officially kicked off on April 6 at Thong Nhat Part in Hanoi.

With three years of organisation, Vietnam Book Day has contributed to building a healthy and useful cultural space for readers as well as creating a closer connection between books and book lovers, apart from promoting a culture of reading among the community.

The programme features around 100 booths of 80 publishing houses and companies from across the country selling around 40,000 book titles.

The delegates who attended the opening ceremony, browse through books at the booths.

The programme includes a range of activities including exchange between authors and readers, introduction of valuable books, seminars and talks on subjects related to outstanding books and current issues.

Several publishing houses and companies offer discounts between 10% and 60% for many publications.

A book stall of Tien Phong Book Store features a range of literary classics.

With diverse themes and fields, the festival attracts both younger and older generations of readers.

Children browse through comic books at a stall.

Foreign readers flip through thematic books at the festival.

The festival attracted a large number of book lovers, particularly young people, on the opening day.
