NDO – The Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City chapter of the Vietnam-France Friendship Association (VFFA) hosted the 2020 French Music Festival at the HCM City Youth Cultural House on the evening of June 19, as part of events to celebrate the Francophonie’s 50th anniversary (1970-2020).

In her opening remarks, Vice Chairwoman and General Secretary of the VFFA-HCM City Phan Thi My Tuyet emphasised that as the first event held by the association after the social distancing period, the programme seeks to demonstrate intense vitality following the anxious and difficult days caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The songs and melodies performed during the festival were also a celebration of the return to normal life and of the country overcoming a great disaster thanks to the sense of solidarity and discipline and always upholding human values, she said.

The French Music Festival 2020 was jointly implemented by the Passion Musique Club (PMC) under the VFFA-HCM City and the Nha Rong (Dragon House) - Bayon Club of the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City. The programme featured a diverse range of genres with many dance, piano and flute performances by professional and amateur artists of France and Vietnam and French language students, bringing together the multicultural and multi-ethnic colours of the countries.

The organising committee hoped that through the French Music Festival, the cultural and artistic exchange in the Francophonie community in general and between Vietnam and France in particular, will be increasingly expanded, thus offering local residents in HCM City, especially young people and students, to learn more about France and the Francophonie.
