NDO – The ASEAN+3 Singing Contest 2019 officially opened in Ha Long city, in the northern province of Quang Ninh, on the evening of July 27.

Running from July 26 to 29, the event, organised by Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV), features the participation of 22 contestants from ASEAN member states and four invited singers from China, Japan and the Republic of Korea.

The contest is open for professional pop singers aged between 18-35, aiming to promote understanding and cultural exchanges between Vietnam and other nations in the region, while discovering and supporting the development of young musical talents in the ASEAN community.

The participating songs may be performed in different languages, but all feature beautiful melodies honouring the life, people and friendship between ASEAN countries.

Shortly after the opening ceremony, the semifinals of the contest took place with unique pieces of performance. The jury board, including music and art experts from the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam, picked out the 10 most brilliant contestants for the final competition, scheduled for tonight (July 28).

The event is part of the activities aiming to advertise the image of Vietnam in particular and ASEAN as a whole, thereby contributing to building a prosperous ASEAN community.
