Over 140 movies registered for 2018 Kite Awards

NDO – As many as 144 cinematographic submissions, including 142 movies and two cinematographic studies and critiques, have been registered for the 2018 Golden Kite Awards.

The information was released at a press conference held by the Vietnam Cinema Association in Ho Chi Minh City on April 4.

The submissions are a collection of screened films in various categories, including 14 featured films, 13 TV series, 14 cartoons, 61 documentary films, 14 scientific films and 26 short films.

The judges will select the most outstanding films for Golden and Silver Kite Awards – the most prestigious cinematographic awards, as well as certificates of merit.

In addition, individual prizes will be given to the best screenwriter, director, musician, actor and actress.

Notably, the Vietnam Cinema Association will hold a ceremony to honour the two late People’s Artists of Pham Khac and Nguyen The Doan for their great contributions to Vietnamese revolutionary cinema.

A forum on composing featured films and TV series will be held on the occasion.

The submissions to the 2018 Kite Awards will be screened for free at Cinestar (135 Hai Ba Trung Street, District 1) and BHD Star Vincom Quang Trung (Go Vap District) in Ho Chi Minh City as well as the National Documentary and Scientific Film Studio in Hanoi.

The award ceremony will be held on April 12 at the Military Theatre in Ho Chi Minh City.
