NDO –The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Peruvian Embassy in Vietnam jointly organised a musical show in Hanoi, on July 30, to celebrate the 197th anniversary of Peru’s National Day (1821-2018).

The event attracted the participation of representatives from a number of central agencies, ministries, branches, embassies, as well as international organisations and Peruvians in Vietnam.

Addressing the programme, Assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nguyen Van Thao, sent greetings to the Government and people of Peru on the occasion of the 197th anniversary of Peru’s National Day (July 28, 1821 - 7/2018).

He emphasised that Vietnam and Peru have many similarities in history and culture. The people of the two countries always give each other sympathy, solidarity and support, which is an important foundation for the two sides to continuously strengthen their friendship and multi-faceted cooperation. The relationship between Vietnam and Peru has grown comprehensively, he added.

Two-way trade between the two countries continues to grow and the two countries also cooperate effectively in international organisations and multilateral forums, especially in the United Nations and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC).

Assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nguyen Van Thao, expressed his belief that the friendship and multi-faceted cooperation between Vietnam and Peru would be increasingly developed for the benefit of the two peoples and for peace and development in the region and the world.

For his part, Peruvian Ambassador to Vietnam, Augusto Morelli, said that the relationship between Peru and Vietnam has grown steadily since the two countries established diplomatic ties in November 1994. The two countries have been supporting each other, becoming good partners in international forums; cooperating in many fields, he added.

He also expressed his hope that the programme would help Vietnamese people to understand more about Peru's music in particular and Peruvian culture in general.
