Nhan Dan – The sixteen best entries from the ‘Exploring Red River Civilisation’ nationwide photo contest were unveiled at a ceremony held in Hai Phong city on August 28.

Three second prizes went to ‘Uoc Le Village’ by Nguyen Tien Nam from Hanoi, ‘A Summer Noon’ by Tran Thi Tuyet Mai from Ho Chi Minh City, and ‘Joyful Lim Festival’ by Vuong Khanh Hoa from Hai Phong. Ten honorable mentions were also awarded. There was no first prize.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Vuong Duy Bien explained that the winning entries were honoured for the photographers’ fresh exploration of the natural beauty, timeless culture, everyday life and economic development of the region.

Launched in March by the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition and the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, the contest received nearly 3,000 photos by 286 entrants from 35 cities and provinces throughout the country.

The organising board selected 162 photos for an exhibition that also opened the same day at the Hai Phong city Exhibition and Fine Art Centre.
