NDO – The Lao Cai International Border Gate on January 26 processed 11 sets of customs declarations for the export of over 1,300 tonnes of farm produce to China, said Tran Anh Tu, deputy head of the Lao Cai border gate customs agency (under the Lao Cai Customs Department).

They were the first batches of cargo to perform the import-export procedures through Lao Cai Border Gate in the 2020 Lunar New Year. The functional forces there created favourable conditions for the prompt clearance of the goods.

The products were worth more than VND20 billion (US$862,900) in total, mainly featuring dragon fruit, jackfruit, watermelon, mango and rambutan which originated from central and southern provinces.

In addition, the customs agency performed procedures for the import of 24 tonnes of grapes from China into Vietnam.

As shown in statistics, the customs branch at Lao Cai Border Gate served 502 businesses with total import-export turnover of over US$1.5 billion in 2019.
