Russian President Vladimir Putin asked the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK)’s official Kim Yong-nam at their meeting on June 14 to pass an invitation to visit Russia in September to DPRK’s leader Kim Jong-un.

Putin's invitation to Kim Jong-un comes days after the reclusive DPRK’s leader held landmark talks in Singapore with US President Donald Trump.

Kim Yong-nam is head of the presidium of DPRK's Supreme People's Assembly.

Putin also said he welcomed the meeting between the DPRK’s leader and US President Donald Trump on June 12 in Singapore.

For his part, the guest handed a written message to the host President from DPRK’s leader Kim Jong-un at their meeting on the same day.
