Ho Chi Minh City and Gyeongju prepare for World Cultural Festival 2017

NDO - Ho Chi Minh City is pushing the coordination among the concerned parties to quickly complete the preparations for the Ho Chi Minh City–Gyeongju World Cultural Festival 2017.

Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem made the remark at a meeting with Joo Joong Chul, Deputy Governor of Gyeongsangbuk-do province, in Ho Chi Minh City on October 24.

Gyeongju is a city in the Republic of Korea’s Gyeongsangbuk-do province.

Vice Chairman Le Thanh Liem spoke highly of the effective coordination between the authorities of Ho Chi Minh City and Gyeongsangbuk-do province in implementing the preparations and ensuring the progress of the festival.

The two sides should continue to work closely together in order to complete the preparations and be ready for the opening ceremony that is scheduled to take place in two weeks, he noted.

The city has also pledged to direct its functional units to effectively implement the plan to ensure security and traffic order during the festival, as well as to deploy communications work in the city.

For his part, Deputy Governor of Gyeongsangbuk-do province Joo Joong Chul expressed his gratitude to the city’s authorities and relevant agencies for their assistance and goodwill and asked for further support to ensure the success of the festival.

He also called for more intensive promotion of the festival through the local media and on the streets.

The Ho Chi Minh City- Gyeongju World Cultural Festival 2017 is set to kick off in mid-November and will last for 25 days.

The event is expected to feature a variety of cultural-art events and sport and youth exchanges, as well as trade cooperation activities.

The events will take place across popular public gathering sites, such as the Nguyen Hue pedestrian street, 23/9 Park, and Ben Thanh theatre.
