Aguero on target as City ease into League Cup final

Sergio Aguero scored the only goal as Manchester City beat League One (third division) Burton Albion 1-0 to secure a 10-0 aggregate victory in their League Cup semi-final on Wednesday. The Argentine striker slotted home from a Riyad Mahrez cutback in the 26th minute as City set up a final clash against Chelsea or Tottenham Hotspur.

* AC Milan have signed Krzysztof Piatek from Genoa after the Polish striker scored 19 goals in 21 appearances following his move from Cracovia in July. Milan said in a statement on their website that the 23-year-old, who was little known before his move to Genoa in July, had been given a contract until June 2023.

* Barcelona have won the race to sign highly-rated Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong, the Spanish club announced on Wednesday (Jan 23). The 21-year-old will join Barca on Jul 1 for €75 million (US$85 million), with a further €11 million due to Ajax in additional payments.

* Paris St Germain's Neymar was substituted in tears after suffering what appeared to be a right ankle injury as they beat Racing Strasbourg 2-0 in a French Cup, last 32 game on Wednesday.
