Vietnam U23s rewarded by Hanoi mayor for AFC feat

NDO – Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung has chosen to present a VND20 million (US$880) bonus to each player of the Vietnam U23 team, in recognition of their exceptional performances in the AFC U23 Championship 2018 in China.
At a meeting with Vietnam U23’s coaching staff and players on January 30, the Hanoi mayor commended the team for their significant achievements, saying that by finishing as the runners-up at a continental-level tournament, Vietnam U23s have met and surpassed the expectations of Hanoi residents and Vietnamese people nationwide.
He hailed the contributions of Hanoi-based football clubs, Hanoi FC and Viettel, to the common success of Vietnam U23, with nine players featured in the team’s lineup.
These players were rewarded with VND50 million (US$2,200) each, alongside another bonus of VND17.5 million (US$770) from the Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee for winning silver medals in an Asian youth competition, as prescribed by the city.

On behalf of the Vietnam U23 team, head coach Park Hang-seo expressed his thanks for the staunch support from Hanoi authorities, ministries, sectors, Hanoi FC, and Vietnamese football lovers over the past few days.
He said Vietnam U23’s silver medal at the AFC U23 Championship 2018 was in part due to such enthusiastic support and sentiments from Vietnamese people as a whole and Hanoi citizens in particular, whilst pledging his utmost efforts to guiding the Vietnamese players to even greater success, in order to meet the expectations of fans across the country.
