Vietnam attends World Youth Rapid, Blitz Chess Championships 2017

NDO/VNA – Eight Vietnamese chess players will attend the World Youth U14, U16, U18 Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships 2017, which will take place in Greece from October 27.

Among the eight competitors, Nguyen Anh Khoi and Tran Minh Thang are the most promising faces of Vietnamese chess.

Nguyen Anh Khoi is the highest hope to win a medal at the U16 event, while Tran Minh Thang, from Hanoi, is expected to cause a surprise in the U18 category.

Thang grabbed a bronze in the boys' U16 category of the World Youth Chess Championship 2016 and he placed No 6 with six points at the recent Piaya Network Negros International Open in the Philippines.
