With a desire to claim a victory in order to confirm their strength and regain top spot in the rankings, the Thanh Hoa players played at a high tempo right from the off, but they faced great determination from a team hoping to improve on their performances to escape from the bottom of the group.

In the first half, Can Tho were somewhat more confident, but they were less fortunate as Thanh Hoa scored the first goal in the 28th minute when Trong Hoang’s finish hit a Can Tho player to loop into the net, opening the scoring for the guests.

Inspired by the opener, Thanh Hoa strengthened their attacks and in the 39th they had their second goal thanks to foreign player Uche’s header. This was also the tenth goal by the Nigerian striker this season.

In injury time at the end of the first half, striker Nsi displayed great skill to go past the Thanh Hoa defenders and then accurately score, to narrow the gap to 1-2 for Can Tho.

Both teams quickened their pace early in the second half and created many opportunities at both ends. However, while pressing in search of more goals, Can Tho conceded the third goal in the 75th minute. Taking advantage of gaps left in the Can Tho defence, Thanh Hoa produced a brilliant counterattack which ended in a goal, widening the score to 3-1.

In injury time, Van Thang scored the fourth goal for his team, claiming the 4-1 victory for FLC Thanh Hoa.
