NDO – Despite failing to find the net during the first 45 minutes, Hanoi FC managed to score four successive goals in the second half against bottom-place Long An, whilst hosting the guests at Hang Day Stadium in the 20th round of the V-League 2017 on October 1.
In contrast to expectations, the reigning V-League champions produced a poor start against underdogs Long An, as they could not turn any of their attacking efforts into concrete scoring opportunities before the break.
It was not until two minutes after halftime that the deadlock was broken by the home side, with Quang Hai unleashing an eye-catching strike from 25 metres to put Hanoi in front.
Hai’s opener helped to lift the pressure off the Hanoi players, enabling them to play with more confidence.
Taking control of the match, it came as no surprise as the hosts doubled their advantage in the 77th minute thanks to Hung Dung’s close-range shot into the top corner.
Van Quyet struck the bar in an 85th-minute one on one with the Long An keeper before converting Oseni’s cross for Hanoi’s third goal two minutes later.
With just one minute left to play, Oseni produced some rapid footwork inside the box, rounding off a convincing 4-0 victory for Hanoi FC.
The excellent win lifted Hanoi up to second place with 35 points, two points behind the leaders FLC Thanh Hoa, who missed the chance to consolidate their top spot following a 1-1 draw against Hai Phong at home.
In the other matches, Quang Nam missed the opportunity to snatch the leading position from Thanh Hoa by playing out a 1-1 draw with Becamex Binh Duong. The same score was also seen in the clash between Ho Chi Minh City and SHB Da Nang.
Quang Ninh Coal and XSKT Can Tho played out the only goalless match in Round 20, while Song Lam Nghe An recorded a 2-0 win over Saigon.
