NDO – During propaganda work it is necessary to take a new initiative to bring the Party and State’s policies to life, as well as keeping propaganda close to the pressing issues and people’s concerns.
The suggestion was made by Politburo member and Head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Communications and Education Vo Van Thuong at a conference held by the Commission Friday morning to sum up the 2017 tasks.
In the past year, the Commission has been active in advising the Politburo and the Secretariat on directing the propaganda work. It completed the scheme on directing the provision of information and propaganda on anti-corruption. It also gave comments on about 200 documents by the relevant ministries, sectors and localities related to the Party’s ideological work and the appointment of senior officials at the press agencies.
The Commission has been in close cooperation with the Ministry of Information and Communications to improve the quality of press activities, while timely detecting and strictly handling reporters who commit wrongful acts.
At the conference, a number of limitations during the body’s operation were also pointed out, including the limited handling of distorted information, passive correction of violations in several units, and sluggish changes in working style and quality.
Speaking at the conference, Politburo member Thuong highly praised the results achieved by the sector in the past year. He said that 2018 is a pivotal year in implementing the tasks set during the 12th National Party Congress, with the occurrence of many important political social events. Therefore, efforts must be paid to constantly renovate the content and improve the quality and effectiveness of the propaganda work, he urged.
The head of the propaganda sector also stated that the communications and education work must be close to reality and create a high consensus within the Party and among society, thus contributing to maintaining security and a peaceful environment for the country’s development.
Thuong stressed that the propaganda work in all areas of social life needs smooth coordination and determination from the relevant units under the Commission with a high sense of responsibility. The working methods also need to be adapted to the new situation, he added.
On the occasion, Politburo member Thuong, on behalf of the Party and State, awarded the Independence and Labour Orders for individuals who have recorded outstanding achievements and contributions to the propaganda sector.
