NDO – Three more top officials of the PetroVietnam Construction Joint Stock Corporation (PVC) will be investigated for “property embezzlement” under Article 278 of the Penal Code, the Ministry of Public Security announced on September 29.
Accordingly, the Security Investigation Agency, under the ministry, has prosecuted and issued arrest warrants for the detention of the three PVC officials, including Nguyen Anh Minh, 40, PVC General Director; Bui Manh Hien, 41, Chief of Office; and Nguyen Duc Hung, 34, former head of Finance and Accounting Division of the company’s Vung Ang-Quang Trach Project Management Board.
All three of the accused were placed in temporary custody on September 29 and police also issued a search warrant of their residences and offices.
The defendants are charged with "property embezzlement". The Supreme People's Procuracy has approved the procedural decisions of the Investigative Security Agency. The case is being further investigated according to the current law.
These actions are being investigated as a case of “deliberately violating State regulations on economic management causing severe consequences and property embezzlement” at the PVC.
Earlier this week, four senior officials of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam), including chief accountant Le Dinh Mau, were detained as the police expanded their investigation concerning the case involving Trinh Xuan Thanh, former chairman of PVC, who was recently arrested on charges of economic mismanagement.
