NDO - The People’s Committee of the central province of Quang Tri has recently received over US$1 million in funding from the Republic of Korea’s Medipeace, to implement the project on minimising the number of children with disabilities who have no access to rehabilitation and improve their living conditions.

The project is being implemented in the Gio Linh, Trieu Phong and Hai Lang districts of Quang Tri province.

The project aims to improve the living conditions of children with disabilities by coordinating the implementation of rehabilitation support activities.

Previously, under the cooperation programme between the Governments of Vietnam and the Republic of Korea, Quang Tri Province and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) have implemented the “Quang Tri Happiness Programme”in seven communes during the 2015-2018 period.

The programme follows the success of the “New Village”programme in the RoK, with a total investment of over US$11.6 million, in which the KOICA provided over US$9.6 million of non-refundable aid.

The programme included projects on increasing incomes for local people, building new style rural areas, enhancing the capacity of healthcare services, environmental protection, and improving infrastructure.
