NDO - President of the Vietnamese Fatherland Front (VFF) Tran Thanh Man has sent a letter of congratulations to Buddhist monks, nuns and laypeople on the occasion of the upcoming anniversary of Buddha’s birthday.

He wished them a joyous festival, which marks the enlightenment and death of the founder of Buddhism.

The Front leader emphasised that, throughout history, Buddhism has always played an active role in the development of the nation.

Besides Buddhist affairs, the Vietnamese Buddhist Sangha also participates in social movements, such as those aimed at building new rural areas, as well as encouraging Vietnamese people to buy locally made products and protecting the environment, Man said.

On the occasion, the VFF leader expressed his belief that the Vietnamese Buddhists would uphold their fine traditions to bring happiness to the people and help strengthen national solidarity.

Buddha’s birthday is celebrated on the full-moon day of the fourth lunar month, which falls on May 29 this year.
