HCM City commends nearly 400 exemplary citizens

NDO - The Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee held a ceremony on May 15 to honour 397 outstanding individuals and collectives who have made significant achievements in the movement to learn and follow President Ho Chi Minh's moral examples in the 2017-2018 period.

Addressing the ceremony, Politburo member and Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Nguyen Thien Nhan, showed his deep gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh while recalling the President's great contributions to and sacrifice for the nation.

He noted that the local authorities and citizens are always aware of the importance of following Uncle Ho's teachings in order to build a more civilised and prosperous city.

He also praised and presented certificates of merit to 397 role-models in the movement that calls on the people to learn and follow President Ho Chi Minh's moral example.

At the event, the audience had an opportunity to talk with exemplary citizens, including Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Tai, head of Tam Phu Ward Police in Thu Duc district who initiated the campaign to make rice porridge for needy patients at hospitals in the city.

A highlight was the audience being introduced to retired teacher Dinh Thi Kim Phan, who has spent more than 10 years teaching children with cancer at the Ho Chi Minh City Hospital of Oncology.
