NDO - The Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM) has met criteria for university quality assessment at the institutional level under the ASEAN University Network – Quality Assurance’s (AUN-QA).

This university is the second educational institution in Vietnam to gain this accreditation after the University of Science under the Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

The AUN-QA network is a group of chief quality officers appointed by the AUN’s member universities as the focal point for coordinating to harmonise educational standards and seeking continuous improvements of the academic quality of ASEAN universities.

The evaluation is based on 25 criteria and 111 norms, including some relatively new assessment areas for universities in Vietnam such as intellectual property, risk management, connecting and community services.

The VNU-HCM groups together six member universities; including the University of Technology, the University of Science, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the Ho Chi Minh City International University, the University of Information Technology, the University of Economics and Law; the Institute of Environment and Natural Resources; and the Faculty of Medicine along with over 30 affiliate members.

In the rankings compiled by London-based education consultancy Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) in 2017, the VNU-HCM was listed among the top 150 universities in Asia, ranking 142th, up five places from 2016.
