NDO – The winners of a writing contest on Vietnam’s exemplary teachers were honoured at a ceremony held in Hanoi on November 14, with 40 prizes being awarded to the best entries.
Two grand prizes went to Ho Thi Kim Hanh, a teacher from Thien Ho Duong High School in Cao Lanh city, Dong Thap province, and co-authors Nguyen Danh Hoang and Nguyen Thi Xuyen, two officers from the Education and Training Office of Ha Trung district, Thanh Hoa province.
Two first, four second, eight third and 24 fourth prizes were also presented at the event.
The contest was launched in April by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), and the National Education Union of Vietnam as an event to observe Vietnamese Teachers’ Day (November 20). It received an enthusiastic response from contestants working both within and outside the education and training sector, as nearly 7,000 entries were sent to the organising board.
Speaking at the event, MOET Deputy Minister Pham Minh Hung said that the contest aimed to honour the outstanding teachers who have made great contributions to the education and training sector, and duplicate their exemplary models throughout the sector.
He stressed that the Party and State always attach great attention to education and training, noting that the sector has gained significant achievements, while making remarkable contributions to national development.
As another event to mark Teachers’ Day, the Hanoi City Department of Education and Training held a ceremony on the same day to honour the distinguished teachers of the capital city.
Also at the event, outstanding educational facilities were awarded with the Independence Order, the Government’s certificates of merit, and the Ministry of Education and Training’s certificates of merit.
