Ton Duc Thang University praised for financial autonomy

NDO – Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh praised Ton Duc Thang University for its financial autonomy over the past 20 years, noting that the financial autonomy model of the university should be replicated among other universities across the country.

The Vice President made the remarks while attending a ceremony to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Ton Duc Thang University in Ho Chi Minh City on September 23.

She also values the achievements made by the university over the past 20 years including quality and amiable facilities and qualified students with 90% of graduates having jobs.

Thinh expressed her hope that Ton Duc Thang University will continue to foster high quality human resources for society, Human resources who are courageous, confident and well qualified.

The university also needs to create favourable conditions for its lecturers so that they love their profession and can live up to their profession. She also told the university to promote an advanced university environment which is up to international standards.

On the occasion, Ton DucThang University was presented with a Certificate of Merit from the Vietnamese Government along with a Friendship Order and a Labour Order from the Lao State.

Ton Duc Thang University, under the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, now has nearly 1,300 workers and lecturers with over 50% of them holding doctorates or in the process of completing doctorates.
