NDO – Politburo member and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee, Nguyen Thien Nhan, has praised Lao Dong (Labour) newspaper for representing the voice of Vietnamese people from all walks of life, particularly Vietnamese workers across the country.

The VFF leader paid the compliment at a working session in Hanoi, on April 18, with Lao Dong newspaper – the voice of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL).

He stressed that over its 88-year old history of development, the newspaper has established a proud position in Vietnam’s Press system. Many reportages and articles have been produced by the newspaper’s reporters and editors to fight against the bad and protect the legitimate right and interest of workers.

The newspaper’s staff has also been actively participating in social activities. More than VND 332 billion has been raised by the newspaper to care for the workers and their families.

Acknowledging difficulties and challenges facing journalists during their operation, the VFF leader expressed his appreciation for findings and suggestions made by the newspaper’s journalists through their articles.

He requested the newspaper’s staff to work harder to produce more high-quality work, providing truthful, objective information to readers and keeping them updated on the situation.

The staff was also asked to promote the strength of Press in the fight against corruption, wastefulness and manifestation of ethical and lifestyle degradation among public servants and Party members.

Vice-Chairman of Vietnam Journalists’ Association (VJA), Ho Quang Loi, noted that Lao Dong is one of the oldest newspapers in the history of Vietnamese revolutionary Press, commending the newspaper for maintaining a close bonding with Vietnamese people and workers. He also pledged VJA’s support for journalists during their operation.

According to Editor-in-chef of Lao Dong newspaper Nguyen Ngoc Hien, the newspaper’s staff has always retained its motto of popularising Party and State’s political activities while representing the VGCL.

Reporters of the newspaper have committed to embracing every hardship to produce more high-quality works, which have had certain influence on the society, he stressed.
