NDO – The Academy of Journalism and Communication held a ceremony in Hanoi on April 2 to mark its 55th anniversary (1962-2017) in the presence of Vice President, Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh.

Addressing the event, Vice President Thinh highly commended achievements gained by the academy over its 55-year history.

She said she hoped for more progress in the academy’s teaching, studying and research activities as well as international cooperation.

She asked for measures to improve teaching quality; and improve lecturers’ qualifications, pedagogical methods, foreign language and information technology capacity while updating training courses and encouraging activity and creativity among students.

The academy was also requested to advance research activities, improve infrastructure, and fulfil its assigned political tasks.

Starting from a training institute for officers working in communication, education and the publishing sector 55 years ago, the Academy of Journalism and Communication has now risen to a national key university and a prestigious centre for scientific research.

The academy now has 19 faculties and research institutes with more than 400 lecturers and employees. More than 50% of the lecturers are professors, associate professors and doctors.

The academy has provided training for 70,000 trainees, who are now working in political theory, culture, Party building, press and communication sectors.
