KOICA supports rural development in Quang Tri

NDO - The Korea International Co-operation Agency (KOICA) has held a ceremony to hand over the results of small-scale cooperation projects in Quang Tri province conducted by the Global Saemaul Youth Volunteer group.

As part of the ‘Happiness Program’, the projects targets enhancing human resources, healthcare development, hunger elimination, poverty reduction and green growth. The ‘Happiness Program’ has a total investment of US$11.6 million, of which the RoK will contribute US$9.6 million in non-refundable aid from 2014 to 2018.

Via the projects, 40 famers in Quang Tri province have had the chance to visit various agricultural models growing pepper, raising pigs, cows, ducks, goats and fish in neighboring areas such as Hue, Quang Binh, Quang Tri to improve their knowledge, connect with other localities and state management agencies in the field of rural development.

Meanwhile, they were also trained in specialized theoretical education to improve the capacity of small-scale management and operations.

The projects have enhanced the rural medical system at Quang Tri provincial Rehabilitation Hospital. With the new equipment, patients at the hospital will receive extended benefits from the hospital’s Department of Health care for wellness as it help doctors to improve their skills.
