Hanoi students win big at International Science Competition

NDO – All 60 student members of the Vietnamese delegation won prizes at the International Science Competition (ISC 2018), which was held in Malaysia from November 24-27.

The students, coming from three Hanoi-based secondary schools of Trung Vuong, Ngo Si Lien and Nguyen Du, brought home four gold, nine silver, 24 bronze and 23 consolation prizes.

The four gold medallists were Dang Huu Hoang Nguyen and Trinh Dieu Linh from Trung Vuong school along with Nguyen Le Ha Anh and Le Thao Linh from Ngo Si Lien school.

In the team award, seven out of 16 participating Vietnamese teams bagged prizes with two gold, two silver and three bronze medals.

The ISC 2018 is the first of its kind to be held by the Malaysian Ministry of Education in collaboration with Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) Educational Innovation Development Programme.

Targeting students of Upper Primary Level and Junior Secondary Level, the contest aimed to provide a platform for the students to learn from each other, develop their knowledge and interests in science and technology and practice cultural experiences.

The competition attracted 105 students from Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines.
