HCM City leaders host Lunar New Year meeting with foreign representative agencies

NDO – The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee held a meeting with foreign representative agencies in the city on February 8 on the occasion of the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival, aiming to strengthen the friendship and cooperation between HCM City and international friends.
Introducing the significant achievements the city has made over the past year, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, Nguyen Thanh Phong, emphasised that 2017 marked successes for both Vietnam and HCM City in the field of foreign affairs, as the city exerted efforts to accelerate its ties with localities of other countries, whilst actively and effectively implementing its international integration, promoting itself to international friends, and attracting resources in service of local socio-economic development.
On behalf of the city leaders, Phong thanked the representatives of consulates, international organisations, non-governmental organisations, businesses, and international friends for making contributions to HCM City’s development, whilst calling for their cooperation with locals to develop the city in a stronger fashion, thus actively contributing to partnerships and development between countries.
Leow Siu Lin, Consul-General of Singapore in HCM City, congratulated the city on its outstanding accomplishments in 2017, which she said, are clear evidence of its stable business environment as well as the righteous policies and the leadership capabilities of the municipal administration.
Hailing the fine relationship between HCM City and diplomatic agencies in the locality, Leow Siu Lin affirmed foreign representative agencies’ pledge to work closely and support the municipal authorities on the path to developing a more vibrant and prosperous HCM City, thereby contributing to enhancing the relations of HCM City and Vietnam with countries around the world.
