NDO/VNA – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh reiterated Vietnam’s consistent policy of considering the US as one of the its most important partners during a reception for former US Secretary of State John Kerry, in Hanoi on January 10.

Deputy PM Pham Binh Minh expressed his wish to continue promoting the friendship and stable, practical and long-lasting cooperation with the US on the basis of mutual respect for each other’s political regime.

Vietnam attaches importance and priority to its ties with the US in the fields of energy, education, environment, and climate change response and water resource protection for sustainable socio-economic development, he said.

The host also expressed his delight that the US-funded Fulbright University Vietnam has been put into operation.

Kerry, who is on a working visit from January 10-11, vowed to continue fostering Vietnam – US ties in the future.

He said that Vietnam holds potential in developing clean and renewable energy in the form of public-private partnerships, adding that he is willing to support Vietnam in the field via connecting the country with potential partners and sharing experience.

The guest believes that Fulbright University Vietnam will contribute to high-quality human resources training in Vietnam.
