NDO – As many as 20 most outstanding press works were honoured at an awards ceremony for the 2016-2017 writing contest on agriculture, farmers and rural areas in Hanoi on November 9.
The event was attended by Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh as well as member of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and President of Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee (VFFCC) Tran Thanh Man.
The contest, the sixth of its kind, was organised by Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper, in collaboration with the Vietnam Farmers’ Association and the PetroVietnam Fertiliser and Chemicals Corporation.
The A prize went to the three-series article titled ‘Finding the direction for sustainable agricultural development’ by the group of writers: Hong Lam, Viet Doan, Quang Nhung, Le Tham and Trinh Binh (from Ho Chi Minh City).
In addition, three B, six C and ten consolation prizes were also awarded.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, PCC member, Chairman of Vietnam Journalists’ Association and Editor-in-chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper Thuan Huu said that the contest aims to bring the Resolution No. 26-NQ/T.Ư of the Party Central Committee (10th tenure) on agriculture, farmers and rural areas into life.
Themed ‘‘Building an agriculture towards large commodity production’, this year’s contest attracted hundreds of entries by people of all strata, journalists, collaborators and readers from many provinces and cities around the country. The organising board selected 98 articles to be published in Nhan Dan daily newspaper.
Works touched on the theme of this year’s contest, highlighting the achievements as well as difficulties during the process of agricultural restructuring towards building a high-tech agriculture with large commodity production, Huu noted.
Addressing the ceremony, Deputy PM Truong Hoa Binh affirmed that the achievements of the agriculture today are thanks to not only the efforts of the political system, but also the communication of press agencies, particularly Nhan Dan Newspaper.
He also expressed his hope that journalists and collaborators would continue to actively respond to the writing contest on agriculture, farmers and rural areas, contributing to the realisation of Resolution No. 26-NQ/T.Ư of the Party Central Committee (10th tenure) and the Resolution of the 12th National Party Congress.
