Former Mexican President welcomed in Ho Chi Minh City

NDO - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong hosted a reception on July 14 for Carlos Salinas de Gortari, who was the President of Mexico from 1988 to 1994.

Speaking at the reception, Chairman Phong expressed his delight at fine developments seen in Vietnam-Mexico relations.

Ho Chi Minh City wants to foster cooperation, especially in economics, trade, investment and education with Mexican localities, as well as share experience with Mexico City to deal with issues related to urban management and development, he said.

Chairman Phong also asked the former President to further contribute to boosting cooperation between the two countries, including Ho Chi Minh City.

For his part, Carlos Salinas de Gortari said he believes that the relations between two countries will continue to be developed in a sustainable manner.

The former Mexican President also added that Mexico City and Ho Chi Minh City share a lot of similarities and hold cooperation potential in dealing with challenges related to urban development, urban waste and traffic jams.
