NDO – The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) and the Lao Front for National Construction (LFNC) have agreed to enhance cooperation in building a shared border line of peace, friendship, and development between the two countries.

The agreement was reached during a conference jointly held by the two fronts in Dong Hoi city, Quang Binh province on July 14.

The event was attended by Vietnam’s Party Central Committee member and President of the VFF Central Committee, Tran Thanh Man, and LFNC Vice President Khambay Damlath, in addition to leaders of 10 localities located on the shared border line.

Delegates at the conference agreed that during the 2017-2020 period the two fronts would increase exchanges between two sides and promote Vietnam-Laos solidarity among people in the two countries.

Localities along the shared border line will encourage local residents to ensure social security and order and provide support for people living in border areas affected by natural disasters.

The 10 local authorities were also tasked with calling on businesses to join in on the organisation of a rural market in border areas, which will showcase high-quality Vietnamese and Lao goods.

Earlier in the afternoon of July 13, leaders from the two fronts visited and presented 40 gifts to people living in border areas of Laos’ Boulapha District, Khammouane Province and Vietnam’s Minh Hoa district, Quang Binh province.
