At the reception, the leader of the Party Committee spoke of the importance of the Cuban legislator’s visit to Vietnam and thanked Cuba for providing support to Vietnam in its past struggle for national independence and reunification.
HCM City has made all-out efforts to enhance traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba, Nhan stated.
For his part, Esteban Lazo Hernandez reiterated Cuba’s commitment to developing ties and solidarity with Vietnam.
Expressing his gratitude toward Vietnam’s assistance for his country over the past 20 years, he said Cuba wishes to learn from Vietnam’s experiences in socio-economic development to successfully develop its own models for national growth in the new context.
Hernandez urged for stronger cooperation between the two countries’ elected agencies and legislative bodies as well as boosting bilateral trade and investment.
After the meeting, the Cuban legislator and his delegation had a discussion with his host and representatives from the municipal People’s Council and People’s Committee in regards to the direction of provincial-level political agencies.
The two sides examined the relationship among Party committees of different levels, people’s councils, people’s committees and local delegations to the National Assembly. Experience in mobilising resources for socio-economic development was also a prominent topic of discussion.
Esteban Lazo Hernandez is on an official visit to Vietnam from June 11-18 at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.
