The Cuban delegation visit the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital in Dong Hoi

NDO - First Vice President of the Councils of State and Ministers of Cuba, Salvado Valdes Mesa, led a delegation from the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and the Cuban State on a visit to the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital in Dong Hoi city, Quang Binh province on September 14.

The hospital is one of the five works that Cuban leader Fidel Castro decided to present to the Vietnamese people during his visit to the province in September 1973 to serve the needs of the locals and soldiers from the Southern battlefield.

Construction of the hospital commenced in May 1974 and was completed in September 1981, becoming one of the most modern hospitals in Vietnam at that time.

Director of the Vietnam-Cuba Hospital, Duong Thanh Binh, expressed his deep gratitude to leader Fidel Castro and the Cuban people for their special affection for the people of Quang Binh and expressed his delight at the visit of the Cuban delegation.

He said that over the past 45 years, local people and hospital staff always remember the simple image of the leader Fidel Castro when he visited Quang Binh province, noting that the hospital is an invaluable present for the people of Quang Binh and a symbol of the solidarity and friendship between the two countries.

First Vice President of the Councils of State and Ministers of Cuba, Salvado Valdes Mesa, highlighted the significance of Fidel Castro's visit to Quang Tri in 1973 while expressing his wish to strengthen the solidarity, friendship, and cooperation between the two sides, particularly in the area of health.

The Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital Dong Hoi has a 500 bed capacity and is operated by the Ministry of Health. The Cuban Ministry of Public Health currently help the hospital with the training of medical staff and has sent a number of Cuban experts to the hospital to provide health examinations and treatments for the people.
