Vietnam People's Army celebrates 73rd anniversary in Laos

NDO - The Vietnamese Military Attaché Office in Laos held a ceremony in Vientiane on December 12 to mark the 73rd anniversary of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944-2017).

In attendance at the event were Lao Minister of Defence Chansamone Chanyalath and Chargé d' affaires of the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos Nguyen Thanh Tung, as well as other Lao military leaders and overseas Vietnamese residing in Laos.

Addressing the ceremony, Colonel Tao Van Thai, Vietnamese Military Attaché to Laos, emphasised that over the past 73 years, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Vietnam People's Army has continuously developed and achieved great feats in the cause of national liberation and defence and construction.

In 2017, the Vietnam People's Army has continued to consolidate its strength while increasing its international defence integration through participating in UN peacekeeping activities, Thai noted.

Colonel Thai also expressed his delight at the defence relations between Vietnam and Laos which have developed to a new level and have brought about practical results in all aspects.

Thai believes that the traditional relationship, solidarity and comprehensive partnership between the two Parties, States, Ministries of Defence and peoples would be strengthened in 2018.

On behalf of the Vietnamese Ministry of Defence, Colonel Thai expressed his gratitude to the Party, State and armed forces of Laos for paying attention to and nurturing the defence relations between the two countries.
