Party leader leaves Hanoi for official visit to China

NDO/VNA—Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and a high-ranking delegation from Vietnam left Hanoi on the morning of January 12 for an official visit to China.

The visit from January 12-15 is being made at the invitation of Party General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping.

The Vietnamese delegation includes Vo Van Thuong, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communication and Education; Pham Binh Minh, Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister; Gen. Ngo Xuan Lich, Politburo member and Minister of National Defence; and To Lam, Politburo member and Minister of Public Security, among others.

The visit comes at a time when Vietnam-China ties are on the whole stable, with progress made in several fields.

It aims at further strengthening bilateral ties and defining the long-term direction for the healthy and stable development of relations in the future.

It is also hoped that the visit will create big changes and improve the efficiency of bilateral cooperation in all fields, especially in economic links, bringing practical benefits to both nations’ development.
