Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association in People's Police Force makes debut

NDO – The Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security made debut its new Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association under the People's Police at a ceremony in Hanoi on October 10.

At the event, Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee's Organisation Commission cum President of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association, Tran Van Tuy, handed the decision from his association on the establishment of the new friendship agency to the Deputy Minister of Public Security, Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam. The ministry’s senior official is the president of the newly-debuted association.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Nam emphasised that the Vietnam-Laos, Laos-Vietnam relations is a special traditional one, a model exemplifying the close and loyal relationship between the two peoples in fighting for independence, freedom and social progress.

He stated that over the past years, the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam has built a good relationship with the Ministry of Security of Laos based on the good sentiment, tradition and loyalty of the two peoples in general and the two ministries’ staff in particular. The establishment of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association within the Vietnamese People's Police is a great importance in fostering existing bilateral cooperation and opening a new and effective cooperative channel, Senior Lieutenant General Nam added.

The new entity is tasked with propagating and educating the traditions of good relations between the two countries and the two ministries for the police force of both sides, thus helping preserve and promote the traditional bilateral relations.

It will organise practical activities on the anniversaries of the two countries and two ministries’, while holding gratitude-paying meetings and visits to senior leaders and families’ members of those who have made great contributions to the development of bilateral relations.

On the occasion, the Central Committee of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association and its members across the nation presented VND400 million as donation to support the Lao people to overcome the consequence from a dam breakdown incident last June in the Lao province of Attapeu.
