National Day marked in Ho Chi Minh City

NDO – The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has assigned the Saigontourist Travel Service Company to take charge of presenting a low-altitude fireworks display, from 9pm to 9.15pm on September 2, at the Dam Sen Cultural Park in District 11, in celebration of the 72nd National Day.

The event is an annual activity which seeks to entertain local citizens on the country’s Independence Day and to attract visitors from both home and abroad to the city, thereby boosting tourism development.

★ A photo exhibition featuring the August Revolution opened in the Nguyen Hue Walking Street in Ho Chi Minh City on August 31.

Through 84 photos, the exhibition gives goers an overview of the historical background and revolutionary movements of the Vietnamese army and people since the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam in 1930, with the August Revolution as the biggest highlight, as well as Vietnam’s victorious resistance wars against the French and US invaders and the country’s significant socio-cultural and economic achievements attained in the 30 years of Doi Moi (Renewal).

On the same day, 134 photos highlighting HCM City’ development and integration were also on display in another exhibition on Ly Tu Trong-Pasteur Street.

★ On the morning of August 31, the Party Committee of the HCM City People-Political-Party Bloc held a ceremony to mark the 72 years of Vietnam’s August Revolution and National Day, during which delegates affirmed the significant meaning of the Party’s right revolutionary path and Uncle Ho’s attachment of national independence with socialism.

On the occasion, the Party Committee of the HCM City People-Political-Party Bloc presented the insignias of 55, 45, 40 and 30 years of Party membership to 27 Party members.
