Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu receives outstanding workers

NDO - National Assembly (NA) Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu hosted a reception in Hanoi, on August 30, for outstanding individuals who have been honoured with Ton Duc Thang and July 28 Awards.

The delegation included 55 engineers and workers, alongside 46 presidents of grassroots trade unions. The July 28 Award, presented by the Ho Chi Minh City Labour Federation, honours the outstanding trade union presidents in the city.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu stated that over 19,000 grassroots trade unions and their 1.32 million members, working in all economic sectors in Ho Chi Minh City, are considered as a large workforce which has significantly contributed to the socio-economic development of the city in particular and the country in general.

The Ho Chi Minh City Labour Federation has overcome numerous difficulties, renovated the organisation and mode of operations and gathered together a large number of workers, officials and employees of the city. Outstanding collectives and individuals honoured with the Ton Duc Thang and July 28 Awards are role models who have greatly contributed to the emulation movement ‘Good and Creative Labour’.

The NA Vice Chairman asked that the city authorities continue pay greater attention to workers in order to ensure their livelihood, income and living standards.
