NDO – Canh Duong village is located about nine kilometres from the tomb of legendary General Vo Nguyen Giap and 60 kilometres from Phong Nha caves, Quang Binh province. A mural painting project called “Fresco for the Future” is restoring the colourful appearance of Canh Duong fishing village following the devastation of storm Doksuri in September 2017. The murals were completed in early March 2018.

The project drew the participation of professional artists and passionate young painters to create 30 murals in an impressive 3D style on a variety of themes.

Most of the paintings depict the daily lives of local people….

…or special features of the local culture.

The project is expected to contribute to promoting local tourism, bringing colour to the village and creating a new attraction for community-based tourism.

The project is considered to be a unique initiative which not only helps to freshen up the appearance of Canh Duong fishing village, but also contributes to boosting the local economy of Canh Duong, a land with nearly 400 years of history and boasting many interesting sights of its distinct local culture, such as the Whale Temple and the Ancestral House.
