NDO – Over 3,000 young people joined a colourful "Run for Charity" at Hang Day Stadium in Hanoi on August 6, the opening event for the third Connecting Viet Youth (CVY) 2017 programme.
CVY is held jointly by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union chapter of the Hanoi municipal Students Association, the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers Community – Hanoi Hub, the Vietnamese Student Association in the UK, the Volunteer for Education Organisation and the Vietnamese students’ associations in the US, Australia, France, the Republic of Korea, Hungary and Singapore.
The programme includes a series of events organised to connect Vietnamese youth and students with oversea Vietnamese youngsters around the world through physical, creative and volunteering activities, thus inspiring young people towards creative start-ups and community support activities.
All the donations and proceeds from the programme will be used to launch a charity programme in support of more than 300 child patients undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion. The proceeds will also be utilised to build a school for disadvantaged children in Tuan Giao district, Dien Bien province.
Kicked off with the Run for Charity, this year's event promises to bring a memorable summer with exciting sports, seminars, and volunteer activities for youngsters.
Accompanying this year's programme is the presence of celebrities and artists, along with thousands of young Vietnamese who are learning and working around the world.
Under the theme of "Teamwork", the youth participating in the running competition were divided into teams, working together to overcome colourful challenges in the arena, such as "Wire Matrix", "Colourful Hurricane" and "Spraying water."
